Season's Blessing is Retiring

It's March and I'm still using Christmas inspired stamps and designer series paper! The main reason is to share with you that you can make a thankful card using the retiring Season's Blessings stamp set and Seasonal Basket dies and not make it Thanksgiving or Christmas related. The biggest choice you can make is when picking what colours you are going to create with. From the Tidings of Christmas designer series paper I chose Sahara Sand and Evening Evergreen. Then because it's spring I looked over the 10 colours in the Subtles Collection to see what would match. Sometimes I will stack the ink pads together to see what the colours look like but other times I'll pull pieces of cardstock from my file cabinet. Usually the cardstock is easier for me. From the Subtles this card has Calypso Coral and Soft Sea Foam. If you saw my card a few weeks ago you would've learned that Granny Apple Green is one of my least used colours and that applies to Calypso Coral too. Are there colours you won't use or have a hard time using?
Can you believe that the designer series paper used on this card is one designed for Christmas? I've used the Tidings of Christmas designer series paper from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. The colours and some of the designs say it's a holiday themed paper pack but you can use some of the designs for other projects like this thankful card. FYI, this pack of DSP is retiring soon!

Timeless Tulips to Make an Easter Card

Have you used a sketch before to create a card or scrapbook layout? Some sketches will have dimensions provided, like mine above, while others won't. You can peruse the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue for card designs. These won't have sizes but you can use any catalogues for inspiration. Perhaps you'll discover a new project design or even a colour combination that you can try.
Here are all the pieces laid out on my stamping desk. And yes, I chose the same colours as I used in the sketch! It just happened that some of these colours were sitting on my desk when creating the sketch. Then when I went to make the card during Sunday's crafternoon the colours worked so well together! What do you think of this colour combo? Like it? Or would you change a few colours?
Since this card has so many layers, I snapped this photo to share how the stems and leaves were stamped. 2 of the stems are stamped using Garden Green ink and 1 using Shaded Spruce ink. The 2 leaves, one of either side were stamped, then punched out using the Tulip Builder punch. For the tulips Highland Heather and Blackberry Bliss inks were used, using purple as it's my favourite colour. What colour would you stamp the tulips? I'm looking forward to seeing the tulips pop up in my front flower bed. The variety of colours that are planted are so neat to see and can be used as inspiration as well.
Because the leaves "hide" behind the Smoky Slate banner the bottom end was glued down using Multipurpose Liquid glue and the opposite end with a Mini Stampin' Dimensional. This creates some shadows and makes it look like a bundle of flowers. And better than a bundle of tulips, this card will last without water.
You could easily switch out the sentiment from Easter to happy birthday since the Timeless Tulips stamp set includes both. But Easter is about a month away so I might make a few more of these cards to mail out.

Rainbow Sweet Ice Cream Card

Does this card make you think of Neapolitan Ice Cream? I can't have Neapolitan Ice Cream because one layer is strawberry and I'm allergic to strawberries! But that's ok, I love chocolate ice cream instead. What colours of ice cream would you make for the 3 scoops on this cone? You could even have sprinkles.
While the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and coordinating Ice Cream Cone Builder punch are no longer bundled, I recommend purchasing them together because the punch helps to make a quick stack of ice cream scoops for your cards.
For the ice cream cone I stamped the hashtag style stamp using Soft Suede onto Cinnamon Cider cardstock. Then stamped Mint Macaron, Soft Suede and Petal Pink inks to stamp the ice cream scoops onto the same colour cardstock. A few quick punches later and I had 3 scoops of ice cream. A tip for you: a thin sliver of Basic White cardstock (or another colour as no one will see it once the ice cream is on the card) is a great building block for this ice cream stack. Glue one end to the back of the cone, then you can glue the ice cream scoops onto the strip to create a sturdy stack. Pop some dimensionals on the back of this stacked ice cream cone and adhere it onto your card front.
This is a great time to remind you that there are some retiring In Colors that will disappear very soon with the Annual Catalogue retirement. The 2020-2022 In Color Collection includes: Cinnamon Cider, Just Jade, Bumblebee, Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight will be gone on May 2, 2022. Most likely they will sell out quickly so I suggest if you do not have any of these colours yet and wish to buy them, do so now. If you are purchasing ink pads please also purchase the ink refills so that you can enjoy the ink even longer.
